Hebron Cemetery Beaverton, AL Virginia May Mixon, 100, of Sulligent, Alabama died of natural causes at home on Thursday, June 18, 2026. She was born June 10, 1926 in Detroit, Alabama and raised in a Christian home by her late parents John T. and Gera Markham. She attended Detroit Elementary and Sulligent High School. In 1946, she married the late Billie Brooks Mixon, and they were married for more than 52 years. A classy, humble, and gracious Southern lady who lived a full and beautiful 100 years. She was a member of Spruce Pine Methodist Church and Mount Hebron Methodist Church. A loving and supportive wife and proud mother and grandmother to her child and grandchildren, she was a source of wisdom, kindness, and love with prayers all would pursue a relationship with Jesus. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gera Markham; her husband Billie B. Mixon; son - Gerald Wayne Mixon; three brothers - Meredith Markham and wife Elsie,James Markham and wife Katie, and Max Markham; two sisters - Ruth Burns and husband Gordon and Frances Karr and husband W. L., Jr. She is survived by her 3 grandchildren - Dennis Wayne Mixon of Hixson (TN), Joshua Eric Mixon and wife Megan of Hoover (AL), and Jeffery Brooks Mixon and wife Stephanie of Muscle Shoals (AL); great-grandchildren- Collins Ann Mixon and Livia Brooks Mixon; a brother - Fred Markham of Sulligent (AL) and many nieces, nephews, other Family and her dear friends. The memorial service with Pastor Tom Ward officiating and Veal Memorial Funeral Home directing will be held at Mount Hebron Methodist Church with the Family receiving Family and friends at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026 with graveside service and burial to follow at 10 a.m. at the Mt. Hebron Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers are Edwin Markham, Mark Markham, and Gerald Hughes.
