Mildred McGuire age 88 of Guin, AL passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in the Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. Born December 10, 1929 in Hamilton, AL she is the Daughter of the late Granville and Margie Jackson Davis and the Wife of the late Robert A. McGuire, Sr. They had been married for 62 years. She had lived in Guin most of her life, had taught English at Marion County High School and worked with her husband at McGuire Drugs in Guin, AL, and was a member of the Guin Church Of Christ. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School, and received her Master’s Degree from the University of Alabama. She was a member of the Alabama Alumni Association, a charter member of the En Avant Study Club and worked with the Guin United Way. She is survived by a Daughter, Marcia Franks (Tim) of Winfield, AL, A Son, Dr. Robert A. “Bob” McGurie, Jr. (Weesie) of Jackson, MS, 6 Grandchildren, Rob McGuire, Josh McGuire, Emily Journy (Patrick), Margaret Anne Mareina (Chris), Blake Franks and Lisa Ann Franks, 2 Great Grandchildren, Dani Kate Franks and Payton McGuire Journy, A Sister, Mary Sue Gann of Hamilton, AL and A Sister In Law, Dale Davis of Hamilton, AL, and several Nieces and Nephews. She was also preceded in death by 3 Sisters, Ann Ray Manscill, Maudie McRoy, and Lena Ozell Cherry and 2 Brothers, John D. Davis and James K. Davis. Services held Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 3:00 pm from the Guin Church Of Christ with burial in the Guin City Cemetery. Bill Rayburn and Ann West officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Guin Church Of Christ. Norwood Funeral Home of Guin, AL directing.
